KRISTIN LONG

OWNER

Kristin Long has been an attorney since 1989. She spent 19 years as a top prosecutor in the Santa Cruz District Attorney’s Office specializing in sexual assault, child molest and domestic violence cases. For the past decade, she has been a family lawyer and finds her prosecutorial experience well-suited for family law. Kristin handles divorce, paternity, child custody and visitation, support, domestic violence, adoption, pre-nuptial and marital agreements, assisted reproduction, “Marvin” partnership, civil harassment and guardianship matters. Personable, yet direct, Kristin believes in apprising her clients of the law unique to their case and offering them sound legal guidance to meet their goals. While some family lawyers make unrealistic promises to their clients and fill them with unrealistic expectations, you can trust Kristin to respect you and your wallet enough to give you an honest, yet compassionate appraisal of your situation.

Kristin is equally skilled at negotiations and litigation. She has a reputation with other lawyers and the courts of being prepared and reasonable. Kristin knows that trial is not always the answer and will offer clients options that work for them. However, if a matter needs to be litigated, the courtroom is like Kristin’s second home and she has a proven track record of successful outcomes.

Kristin also believes that above all, children should come first in a family law dispute and will help you navigate the child custody and visitation process in family court with common sense advice and options on how best to protect and parent your children.

Kristin knows that going through a divorce can cause unimagined upheaval in one’s life. Feelings of anger, fear, confusion, frustration and helplessness can bubble up and become overwhelming. Kristin will offer you calm, compassionate and determined advocacy to achieve results so you can move past this often painful chapter in your life.

Kristin is also very active in the Santa Cruz Community. She is an admitted Pickleball addict and helps out with Scotts Valley Pickleball. She loves golf, hiking, bicycling and Padres baseball. A recently retired board member of the Santa Cruz Diversity Center for seven years, Kristin remains involved in the Center. She was also on the Santa Cruz County Domestic Violence Task Force, BAYMEC Board and Mayor Bryant’s Public Safety Task Force. She is the proud parent of a 17 year old daughter, three dogs and a cat. She is an accomplished musician and composer and likes to grow roses.
